2012 World Club Championship Coed Champions
While most of the soccer world was sitting down at their dinner tables, consuming an Easter meal, NVFC Campobasso was busy at work, winning themselves their second consecutive Canlan Indoor Soccer Coed Championship. After winning the Nations Cup back in December playing as San Marino, the Coed Champs returned to defend their title at the World Club Championship. Fittingly choosing the club team of Campobasso, they went 5-0 in the tournament, winning each game by at least a 4-goal margin.
Marcos “Mo-Jo Snipe-Show” Mogyoros led the team in attack with his blistering shot and speed, and deadly cutback that left defenders helpless. His goal tally climbed too high to count as he became the leading scorer in the tournament. On the defensive side, goaltender Riley “GK” Janzen stood on his head on numerous occasions to prevent the score-lines from reaching parity. He even sacrificed the start of his Easter dinner to lead the team to victory in the finals. Campobasso welcomed some new faces to the squad including Sarah Dethridge, Tomislav Tomic, and Nicole Kirkley, all who played vital roles in the teams success.

We love the feeling of championship steel against our lips.
Post-match celebrations followed at the Thirsty Penguin Pub above the field. Players took their turns sipping ice-cold beer from the Championship trophy, truly tasting the sweetness of victory. Campobasso remains undefeated in coed indoor soccer tournament play with a record of 9-0-1. They eagerly await the opportunity to 3-peat. Click Here to view photos from the tournament.
